ASSESSMENT SERVICES
The Diagnostic Center uses expert teams of assessment specialists. Each assessment is a carefully planned, dynamic process that is:
- individualized
- guided by educationally relevant diagnostic questions
- designed to support the local district by providing specialized intervention strategies and programming options.
The diagnostic questions, coupled with the student's profile, guide the planning, implementation and location of the assessment.
Center Assessments
A Center Based Assessment is conducted at the Diagnostic Center over a span of two to three days. The Diagnostic Center team is typically composed of an educational specialist, psychologist, physician, and speech and language specialist. Other specialists are also available. The Diagnostic Center team will conduct the assessment, prepare a report of their findings and recommendations and meet with the family and district personnel. Three-percent (3%) of Diagnostic Center assessments are Center Based assessments.
Field Based Assessments
A Field Based Assessment is conducted over a span of one to three days at the school site. The Diagnostic Center team will conduct the assessment , prepare a report of their findings and recommendations and meet with the family and district personnel. Eighty-percent (80%) of Diagnostic Center assessments are Field Based assessments.
Combination Assessments
A Combination Assessment is conducted at the Diagnostic Center and involves a school site visit. The assessment is conducted over a period of two to four days. The Diagnostic Center team will conduct the assessment, prepare a report of their findings and recommendations and meet with the family and district personnel. Seventeen-percent (17%) of Diagnostic Center assessments are Combination assessments.
Follow - Up Services
Consultation services are provided to previously assessed students at the district's request. Services are provided after the district has attempted to implement the Diagnostic Center recommendations and has additional questions. Services range from telephone consultation to services at the school site.
