Section 504

This online training will introduce you to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.  This training is designed to provide you with an understanding of the law, how it applies to educational programs and to students with disabilities. It is very important to be aware of the laws and understand their mandates, however this training in not intended to serve as legal advice. The training’s question-answer format allows you to identify issues quickly.

Instructor

Mary Anne Nielsen is the Director of the Diagnostic Center, North operated by the California Department of Education http://www.dcn-cde.ca.gov.  Mary Anne has over 30 years of public school experience in both general and Special Education.  She has served as an elementary principal, high school principal, and Special Education administrator. She has also taught Special Education classes K-12 and at colleges and universities.
